London Sketchbook from Jason Brooks (a book giveaway)

And the winners are…. KATE THORN & DAVIDE KNAP! Congratulations, Hope! I’ll be in touch to get your mailing addresses. Thanks to everyone that entered and watch out for the next book giveaway!

Goodmorning everybody! Oh, how I love this book... This follow-up to Jason Brooks's Paris Sketchbook is a lovely gift book that brings the big smoke to life through beautiful drawings. From the West End to the Square Mile and from Liberty to hipster hang-outs, Brooks explores modern-day London through his unique visual repertoire that unites high fashion, fine art and traveller's sketches. Although best known for his fashion illustrations, which feature regularly in Vogue and Elle, travel has been a recurrent theme in Brooks's work. This guide book/illustrated journal, printed on glossy, matte and transparant paper, is useful divided into the chapters Architecture, The Street, Food & Drink, Fashion, Shopping, Art & Culture, A to B and London Night and it will definitely appeal to both London lovers and fashionistas. A must for anyone who loves fashion illustration and beautiful books.

Rosie of Laurence King Publishing has offered to give TWO of them away to TWO of you! Leave a comment below and I’ll mention TWO names after this weekend on Monday January 12 end of the day. Have a great weekend! ps. It’s only $24.95, so if you want to buy one Click here >

  4. I love how Jason's illustrations look deceptively simple and minimal, which it is but then you immediately notice all the little details. And the use of muted saturated colors? Gah, just so lovely and beautiful. His work gives me the feeling that everything is important: the buildings, the automobiles, doors, a street light, the people, and just all the little quirks. Thanks for introducing him to me and for this giveaway!

I only have M.Sasek' Venice and Rome illustration, which I love since I was a kid. It would be great to add this book to my illustration book collection. I believe it would be such an outstanding guide to beautiful London that I only see from movies <-- thanks to BBC series *grinning*

  21. Omg! Brilliant illustrations. Almost squeeled when I saw the illustration of Bedford Square. I used to live in Bloomsbury really close by and I loved walking down there. The streets are the best part of London, especially in Bloomsbury. The illustrations of the colourful doors are exactly like a series of photography I took of the many different doors in London.
Would love to feature this book on my blog www.leaelm.com where I write about LDN adventures, art and literature.
